ALBOMAURICE: A predictive model for mapping Aedes albopictus mosquito populations in Mauritius

چکیده
The ALBOMAURICE software runs a mosquito population dynamics model to predict the temporal and spatial abundance of Aedes albopictus, dengue disease vector in Mauritius. For each surveillance zone, it solves system ordinary differential equations describing different stages life cycle. uses daily rainfall temperature input data produce maps used operationally by health services for targeting areas where apply control measures. Model simulations were validated against entomological acquired weekly during year at nine locations. Different options can also be simulated their effects compared.

Frequencies of mitochondrial DNA haplotypes in laboratory cage populations of the mosquito, Aedes albopictus.
A laboratory cage experiment was undertaken to study changes over time in the frequencies of two mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) haplotypes in the mosquito, Aedes albopictus, under two conditions: bidirectionally compatible matings and unidirectionally incompatible matings. Frequencies were monitored for 10 generations in three replicate cages for each of the two conditions above. In cages with bidir...
متن کاملWolbachia Modulates Lipid Metabolism in Aedes albopictus Mosquito Cells
UNLABELLED Certain strains of the intracellular endosymbiont Wolbachia can strongly inhibit or block the transmission of viruses such as dengue virus (DENV) by Aedes mosquitoes, and the mechanisms responsible are still not well understood. Direct infusion and liquid chromatography-Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance (FT-ICR) mass spectrometry-based lipidomics analyses were conducted using...
متن کاملInterpopulation divergence in competitive interactions of the mosquito Aedes albopictus.
Geographic variation in species interactions can have major effects on distributions. Effects of such variation can be particularly evident for invasive species, in which variation in competitive ability can influence invasive success and impacts. We tested the hypothesis that coexistence or exclusion of the resident mosquito Aedes aegypti results from variation among local populations of the i...
متن کاملmiRNA Genes of an Invasive Vector Mosquito, Aedes albopictus
Aedes albopictus, a vector of Dengue and Chikungunya viruses, is a robust invasive species in both tropical and temperate environments. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) regulate gene expression and biological processes including embryonic development, innate immunity and infection. While a number of miRNAs have been discovered in some mosquitoes, no comprehensive effort has been made to characterize them fro...
متن کاملA Rainfall- and Temperature-Driven Abundance Model for Aedes albopictus Populations
The mosquito Aedes (Stegomyia) albopictus (Skuse) (Diptera: Culicidae) is an invasive species which has colonized Southern Europe in the last two decades. As it is a competent vector for several arboviruses, its spread is of increasing public health concern, and there is a need for appropriate monitoring tools. In this paper, we have developed a modelling approach to predict mosquito abundance ...
